Biography

Roberta Ann O’Donnell of Hartly, DE died Wednesday April 8, 2009 at Kent General Hospital. She was 71.

Mrs. O’Donnell was born March 19, 1938 in Roslindale, Mass. to the late Robert Edward Sutton and Ann Marie Costello Sutton.

She worked for 26 years at Playtex in Dover and then retired in 2001, first working in Export and then in Advertising. Prior to working at Playtex she held several jobs that allowed her to be home with her children until they were in school, where she raised her children on her own. She was a wonderful mother, the hardest worker, and devoted to her Catholic Faith. Mrs. O’Donnell enjoyed collecting dolls mostly porcelain dolls. She loved to travel especially cruises and bowling. Mrs. O’Donnell was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Dover.

Mrs. O’Donnell is survived by her son, Michael O’Donnell of Hartly; her four daughters, Ann Marie O’Donnell of Hartly, Kelly Gardner and her husband Chris of Smyrna, Kathleen Ochoa of Pittsboro, NC and Julie Gramb and her husband Rick of Newport News, VA; her sister, Carol Clodt of Sammamish, WA; her grandchildren, Amanda Gramb, Ashley Gardner, Kalaindie Ochoa, Joseph Ochoa, Robert Gramb and Christopher Gardner; and her life long best friend Laura Rusczyk.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11am Tuesday April 14, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 6-8 Monday evening at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Interment will be in Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Catholic Charities Inc., Diocese of Wilmington DE, 2601 W. 4th, Wilmington, Delaware 19805-3309.
