Biography

Donna “Johnnie Mae” Luffman of Frederica died Wednesday March 31, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, DE. She was 68.

Donna Mae was born Johnnie Mae Luffman 1941 to the late James Walter and Belma Greer Luffman in Roaring River, North Carolina and moved to Delaware in 1952.

She worked as a fabricator for ILC during the late 1960’s (Apollo years). Donna Mae retired in 2004 working as a Hospice private caregiver. She was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Dover. Donna Mae loved making trips back to NC to with her brothers and sisters to their childhood farm. Her love for animals mainly cat’s also kept her actively involved with animal rescue.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Long; brother David Luffman; half brothers, Wallace, Hollis, Fred, Buford, Jackie, Jimmy; half sisters, Lula, Ennis.

She is survived by her four sons; Rick Jones and his fiancé Patricia Billingsly of Frederica, Larry Jones and his fiancé Tanya Johnson of TN, Jimmy Long and his wife Mary of Smyrna and Stanley Long and his wife Kathy of Seaford, DE; sisters, Joann Cooper of Camden DE, Louise Sparks of Salisbury MD, Lynn Bradley and her husband Bill of Salisbury MD, Jean Awadalla and her husband Adib of California, Gail Adkins and her husband Wayne of Mardela Maryland, Roxie Nickerson Salisbury MD; brothers: Willis Luffman, Ralph Luffman and his wife Aileen all of Pittsville Maryland, J.W. Luffman Frederica DE, and Dean Luffman Laurel DE, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1pm, Monday, April 5, 2010 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt. 10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
